Nathan Ferraz

VOCAL TEACHER, PIANO TEACHER, VIOLIN TEACHER

Nathan de Matos Ferraz is a Brazilian jazz musician and singer-songwriter from Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil. He is now based in Brooklyn, New York City.

Nathan began his voice and piano studies at the tender age of 3, under the instruction of his mother, seasoned music educator and Brazilian jazz pianist Susie Matos. He started performing Bossa Nova music at this very age and his love for jazz music has deepened to extraordinary depths since then.

Nathan immigrated to the United States in 2002 at the age of 8, where he then began his violin studies at the UMASS Lowell String Project, a "vanguard music education initiative" that provides string and orchestral education for (largely) underprivileged kids in Lowell, MA, where he studied for 10 years.

After graduating from high school in 2011, Nathan began his teaching career at the age of 18 at a music school in Malden, MA and he has not stopped teaching consistently since then.

He enrolled in the Jazz Vocal Performance undergraduate program at The City College of New York in 2015, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

He is now a Master of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance student at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in New York City.
