Josh Pikulin

Josh is a versatile and accomplished musician fluent in a wide range of musical styles. He has played guitar and bass in rock and pop bands, gospel ensembles, jazz combos, blues and R&B groups, high-profile cover bands, and nearly every musical setting imaginable.

Picking up the guitar at age nine, Josh quickly developed a passion for improvisation, which became a defining element of his musical identity. His childhood was immersed in the soulful sounds of blues guitar, while jazz harmony and classical theory broadened his musical palette and refined his style. By high school, he was actively performing in rock bands and jazz ensembles, earning statewide soloist awards and participating in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Randy Brecker and Peter Erskine. His studies also included private lessons with esteemed jazz guitarists Vic Juris and Mordy Ferber.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Music degree from New York University's Steinhardt School, where he specialized in music performance and audio engineering. While at NYU, he quickly became immersed in the New York City music scene, working as both a session musician and recording engineer. He has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Cody Simpson, Michelle Branch, and Chris Pennie, touring extensively across the U.S. and more than 20 European cities. Based in Brooklyn, he continues to perform at some of NYC's most prestigious concert venues and event spaces.

With years of teaching experience, Josh deeply values the dynamic learning process between student and teacher. Passionate about sharing his knowledge, he has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. His teaching approach focuses on building proper technique and muscle memory, expanding musical vocabulary through technical exercises, ear training, and sight-reading. Most importantly, he emphasizes learning the music his students love, fostering enjoyment, and maintaining inspiration throughout their musical journey.
